The following list includes locations where Maverick Inspection has performed ground penetrating radar analysis of concrete in Alberta and elsewhere across Western Canada. The concrete scans and coring were performed in cities including Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Banff, Jasper, Peace River, Lethbridge, Cold Lake, Whitehorse, Yellowknife, Regina, Saskatoon, etc. These samples include various renovation, restoration, and construction projects.
This technology both supplements and replaces xray inspection of concrete for the location of conduits, rebar, and other structures. There is no radiation with this passive method, and slab-on-grade examination is possible since there is no need to place film on the other side of the concrete. It is an excellent tool for beam locating, piling locating, and concrete thickness measurements.
Sometimes radar is accidently called by other names such as x-ray (or xray), ultrasound, floor scan, concrete scan, or line tracing. Differences between x-ray and GPR can be found on a separate page devoted to that subject. GPR is more like ultrasound except that ultrasonic devices such as fish finders use acoustic energy where radar uses a radio signal.
The success rate of Maverick's ground penetrating radar technology, procedures, and expertise has been phenomenal. The technicians are dedicated to learning and using radar daily, and our equipment is upgraded and specified as the science advances.
Some of the applications for ground penetrating radar in concrete include bridges, retaining walls, silos, recreational complexes, mechanical rooms, elevator shafts, air ducts, machine shops, laboratories, and other sites. Maverick also performs these scans to locate private utilities, support engineering and geophysical studies, and non-destructively locate burial sites.
If you select the specific locations listed below, a list of the types of analysis will appear to the right. If you wish to close the list, simply click on the location again.
