Maverick RVT Department Summary

This report contains examples of the effective use of Remote Visual equipment. Although videoscopes have typically been employed for emergency diagnostics of problems, the real cost benefits of this type of inspection are found during scheduled shutdowns. Using the arsenal of RVI equipment now available to determine the necessity for disassembly, cleaning, or entry of plant equipment can streamline maintenance tasks and result in time and money being directed where it is most needed.

Remote Visual Inspection or Testing, also called Video Inspection, involves different sorts of probes, camera systems, scopes, robotics, and other devices to collect images from hard to access areas. Maverick Inspection uses non-contact measurement software, image capture devices, digital recording mediums, built-in line locators, retrieval tools, and other technologies to maximize the abilities of this equipment. We have rated explosion proof and intrinsically safe equipment, specialized tube inspection cameras, robotic pan/tilt/zoom cameras, and a wide range of custom built systems. Maverick owns enough equipment for almost all of the possible applications we come across, without the need to bring in outside equipment. This allows us to react quickly to emergency calls, and we do not have to transfer large rental costs to our clients.

Maverick Inspection pioneered Remote Visual Testing in Western Canada, and we have provided service for more than a decade and gathered a lot of experience. We grew as the demand grew, putting together an array of unique equipment to meet our clients' unique inspection needs. 1. Valve Tie-in with Internal Corrosion

This image shows corrosion in process piping at a valve tie-in. Using non-contact measurement software, Maverick is able to provide size measurements of features such as pitting.

3. Reactor Piping Check Valve

Our robotic crawlers are able to inspect piping, valves, and other features even if there is standing liquids or build-up in the piping. Powerful wheeled or tracked carriage systems crawl over and through most material. The reflection of the crawler lighting is evident in the distance.

6. Spring on Valve Intact and In Place

Remote visual equipment provides an inside look at equipment such as valves to eliminate possible sources of known problems without expensive disassembly. This spring was suspected to be missing from the valve, but a remote visual inspection proved that this was clearly not the case.

7. Large Diameter Piping Elbow

Robotic crawlers have numerous pipeline applications including foreign object retrievals and general surveys of internal conditions. These crawlers are available in a variety of sizes and features including explosion proof ratings, steerable tracked or wheeled tractors, and built-in radio detection line locators.

8. Coke Build-up in Downcomer

Maverick commonly monitors the extent of build-up in process piping, furnaces, and plant equipment. We have a variety of video inspection probes and crawlers for different sizes of piping or access requirements. We provide the technology and services necessary for monitoring the extent of restriction and verifying the effectiveness of cleaning procedures.

9. Pig Bars Intact and In Place

After damaged pigs come back, Maverick can assess the conditions of pig bars at compressor stations, pig launchers, and valve sites. We use various robotic crawlers, push-type pipe cameras, videoscopes and other types of systems to provide visual access to these areas.

Maverick has push cameras which can be inserted into the pipe and supply a distance reading along with adjustable imagery of the piping. Damaged coating can be seen on the roof of the pipe which is visible at 38 feet from the insertion point.
