Videoscope Features:
The word "videoscope" describes a range of the most familiar video inspection tools, and may be mistakenly confused with the terms "borescope" (see above) and "videoprobe" (a trademarked description used exclusively to describe one manufacturer's equipment line). Some poeple even use "video borescope" when referring to these tools. A videoscope is typically a flexible device which captures and processes a digital signal. It may include features such as interchangeable tips, 2 or 4 way articulation, digital video recording and image capture, small diameter tips and insertion tubes, and high-intensity lighting. Pipe Camera Features:
Pipe cameras can be divided into two groups: push type cameras and robotic systems referred to as "crawlers" or "tractors." The push systems are generally a camera and lighting head mounted on a semi-rigid push rod designed to snake through smaller diameter piping and around elbows. The robotic systems are generally remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) which can include features such as pan and tilt camera heads, steerable tracks or wheels, variable lighting, inclinometers, distance counters, and explosion proof or intrinsically safe ratings.
