BOILERS & FURNACES

Maverick has provided Remote Video Inspections for a huge variety of boilers and furnaces.  We have used pan/tilt/zoom robotic systems, push-style pipe cameras, small diameter video scopes and borescopes, and even prototype high-temperature camera equipment. We have used many different access points for inserting RVI tools including valve openings, removed blind flanges, thermo-welds, viewing glass ports, removed piping and man-ways.

D-STYLE BOILER EXTERIOR TUBES

This video was captured to examine the water tube ligaments at the steam drum exterior shell. The client was interested in signs of bulging and/or discolouration. To access the top area of the boiler, entry was required from the gas fire side of the boiler. Saturated scale with flash rusting was noted towards the burner tip end of the boiler.

SCALE IN BOILER PIPING

This video shows both the upper and lower sections of the heater piping with large amounts of scale. The inspection was performed after high pressure cleaning using a pan and tilt video camera mounted on a push system cable.

BLAST FURNACE REFRACTORY

This video shows a steel mill blast furnace's down comer piping leading to the dust collector pot. The inspection was carried out to determine the condition of the internal refractory. The piping in this area was five feet in diameter. A robotic pan and tilt camera was used for this type of inspection, since manned entry into this piping raised significant safety issues.

STEAM HEADER INSPECTION

A video pan and tilt camera was used to inspect the steam header shell side and nozzle openings for any scale build up.
